Accounting standards are written for people who already know them, and US tax rules are scattered across fifty states and a federal code. Most of the explanations online either stop at the definition or hide the worked example behind a paywall. We started Tax Bakers to put the worked examples first: what the rule says, what the numbers look like, and where IFRS and US GAAP part ways.
Tax Bakers began as a US tax filing practice for foreign-owned LLCs. It is now a library, and we no longer take on client work through the site; the guides and the Excel models are free to use.
Every guide is written in our own words, with an example we built ourselves, and is reviewed by a second partner before it goes up. When a standard or a fee changes, the guide changes and shows the new date. If you spot something we missed, tell us.
Guides to IFRS Accounting Standards, US GAAP and the differences between them; accounting issues industry by industry; expected credit losses; sustainability reporting; and US small-business tax, from forming an LLC to sales tax. The Excel models work through the examples in the guides. We are based in Islamabad, Pakistan; email us about corrections, the models or reusing the material.
Each of our US guides and accounting standards guides names the partner who wrote it and the partner who reviewed it, and shows the date it was last updated. US tax guides are checked against the IRS or the state agency that sets the rule; standards guides are written from the standards themselves and the updates that amend them. The sources are listed at the end of every guide.
Rules change. If you find something out of date, email hamza@taxbakers.com and we will correct it.
